Greetings,
I first discovered plants as a design element while visiting the NJ Flower Show as an 8-year-old. I was walking down a garden path and was stuck by a small garden in front of me.
The words "Welcome" were spelled out in marigolds. That memory has never left me. Growing up in the woods, I developed an early appreciation of nature. It was an ever-changing playground for us.

I took this love with me to college and majored in Environmental Science and later Botany. I spent summers teaching environmental courses at summer camps and later as a grower for a commercial greenhouse. I took what I learned and delved into the scientific side and the creative side of each of these practices.
In 2003, I opened my landscape design business under the eponymous name of Helen Grundmann Garden Design. I was already being asked to do design work and I was fairly sure no one else would have that business name! I was off and running!
